Lumbini, Buddha's birthplace

Lumbini is the hallowed birthplace of Siddartha Gautama, the Shakya prince who later became the Buddha, the Enlightened One. Now, this nativity site identified by Emperor Ashoka’s commemorative pillar, has been included in the World Heritage List by the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO.
